Saint-Valery-en-Caux
The afloat harbour, the Friday market
The town where we do our shopping. A real fishing harbour still alive — trawlers in the morning, pleasure boats in the afternoon — and an open-air market that fills the whole square on Fridays, until 1 pm.
The essentials (02)
-
The harbour & the quays
A stroll around the two basins, terraces facing the masts, ice-cream stalls in season. It's where we take the children to watch the boats come in.
-
The Henri IV house & the market
A listed half-timbered house from 1540, right by the harbour. The Friday market is held on the square — Neufchâtel cheeses, fish off the boats, local vegetables.
Getting there — what to know
Friday morning for the market. Otherwise any weekday — it's less touristy than Veules-les-Roses.
